Hazel Farber, owner of LeRoy Jewelers on Broadway, announced this week she will retire after more than 60 years in the business.
Farber was honored Tuesday during the Pierce County Council meeting, where she was recognized for her role in the countys economic development. Indeed, while many downtown business shuttered during the 1970s and 1980s, LeRoy remained a destination jeweler in the city center.
The council passed a resolution lauding her for 65 years in the Broadway shopping district and wishing her well in her retirement.
Farber and her late husband Irving owned LeRoy Jewelers since 1941.
