Pierce Transit Daffodil bus unveiled

The new Pierce Transit Daffodil Bus rolled out of the garage for the first time Monday, at Pierce Transit headquarters to the delight of the more than 100 Daffodil Festival officials, Pierce Transit employees and other guests.

Queen Katrina Woldseth and her court posed for an official photograph in front of the bus that is blue in color with a whimsical yellow daffodils down the sides, front and rear.

It will also carry the Daffodil Festival name, theme, parade dates and web site address.

The bus was designed by the Pierce Transit Marketing Department, painted by the Maintenance Department and sponsored by Frontier Bank.

The bus will participate in the Junior Daffodil Parade on April 13 and the Grand Floral Parade on April 20.

When the bus is not participating in official Daffodil Festival activities it will be assigned to different routes in the Pierce Transit service area.

The original Pierce Transit Daffodil Bus will be on display and is making it final appearance at the event.

That bus has been popular in the Tacoma area for many years.

It recently returned from the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City where it helped provide transportation for athletes and spectators.
