The City of Tacoma has extended the application deadline to fill a vacancy on Urban Policy Committee until June 17.
The City Council needs a representative who lives within the city limits to serve on the 11-member committee. The term for the volunteer position begins in July and will expire Dec. 8, 2004. As a member of the Urban Policy Committee, the chosen applicant would make recommendations to the City Council regarding housing for low- to moderate-income residents through Community Development Block Grants and HOME Investment Partnership federal grants. The committee also advises the council how to spend the citys human services funding.
The Urban Policy Committee meets at 6 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St., Room 148.
Interested people may pick up an application from the City Clerk, Room 238, Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St., or the mayor’s office, Room 1220. Applications must be returned to the mayors office by June 17. Please call Mary Hodgeman in the mayors office at 253/591-5100 for more information.
