Applications are being accepted to fill five positions on the Pierce County Landmarks Commission.
The nine-member commission makes recommendations to the Executive and Council on historic preservation-related matters including nominations to historic registers and applications for historic road names. In addition, the commission conducts design reviews and reviews special tax valuation applications on rehabilitation of historic properties.
The available positions include a combination of full and uncompleted terms. Individuals who reside in Pierce County and are practicing professionals in the fields of history, architecture, and archaeology are encouraged to apply. So are residents with professional or avocational knowledge and interests in community history, architectural history, or archaeology.

Landmarks Commission meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Pierce County Public Services Building (Annex). Project-related community workshops or informational meetings may occasionally be held at various locations. Full terms for the unpaid positions are three years. The maximum number of full terms commissioners can serve is two.
