Apply today for Community Development Block Grant; $800K available

Pierce County is soliciting applications for $800,000 in federal grants aimed at improving living conditions in lower income areas.

The grants will be offered to nonprofit, public and government agencies from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant. These grants, administered by Pierce County’s Department of Community Connections, will fund eligible activities that provide housing, capital improvements, community facilities and economic development activities. The goal must be to improve living conditions by means of acquisition, construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation or installation of public facilities and improvements.

Applications for grants will be available on the Community Connections Web site on Fri., Nov. 9.

An application workshop on will be held on Thurs., Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Community Connections office located at 1305 Tacoma Avenue South, Suite 104, in Tacoma to answer questions.
