The LeMay Car Museum in downtown Tacoma won’t officially open until June. But Tacoma blogger (and friend of the Tacoma Daily Index) Kevin Freitas recently toured the museum and shared these photographs with our newspaper. “We took a tour of the incredible new LeMay Museum building to scope it out for work events,” wrote Freitas, who is also manager of internal projects and innovations at SiteCrafting, Inc., a Tacoma-based Web application and development company. SiteCrafting is the official Web site provider for the museum. “The place is stunning with plenty of cars already lined up and impressive architecture sure to wow people the world over.”
When it opens this summer, the four-level, 165,000-square-foot facility located adjacent to the Tacoma Dome will feature more than 250 automobiles, 15 galleries, rotating exhibits, an educational center, library, a 3.5-acre show field, theatre, cafe, banquet hall and meeting facilities, and will host everything from special car exhibits to rock concerts and drive-in movies.
