Bates Technical College is offering a special afternoon and evening testing opportunity for people interested in registering for pre-college and college-level academics.
On Monday, February 23, the Assessment Center at Bates downtown campus, 1101 South Yakima Avenue, will be available for COMPASS testing to walk-in customers from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. No appointment will be required.
COMPASS is an adaptive national college entrance/ placement test that all incoming students take to match their skill levels with the appropriate-level academic courses.
The tool assesses an individuals basic skills in reading, writing and mathematics to determine placement in college-level academics required for degree and certificate completion.
For people who already have a degree, COMPASS results may indicate a need to review some basic skills in order to be successful in a new career field.
Bates integrates academics with career training programs, so it is important to test all students to help ensure their success.
A $20 fee covers the complete battery of COMPASS tests.
