Fortune magazine named Tacoma-based Ruseell Investment Group one of the 100 best employers in the United States, according to a statement released Monday. The business magazine ranked Russell No. 63 on its list of 100 Best Companies to Work For. It is the fifth time the company has made the list.

Seven other Washington state companies also made the list: Recreational Equipment, Inc. / REI (No. 9); Starbucks (No. 29); Microsoft (No. 42); Nordstrom (No. 46); Perkins Coie (No. 48); Washington Mutual (No. 87).

Fortune started compiling the list in 1997, and ranks U.S. companies with 1,000 or more employees. Genentech, a California-based biotech company, tops the list.
