The Eells Street Bridge over the Puyallup River, which connects Puyallup Avenue in Tacoma with Pacific Highway South in Fife, re-opened this morning following repairs to fix damage caused by an accident on May 18.
On May 18 a truck damaged a series of horizontal beams on the bridge, which forced City of Tacoma engineers to close the bridge until repairs could be made. The City worked with Washington State Department of Transportation engineers to evaluate the damage, and a contractor was hired to fix the damage.
The Eells Street Bridge carries approximately 20,000 vehicles per day between Tacoma and Fife.
