“Under grey and drizzly skies, Business EXPO 99 began its run yesterday.A moderate turnout of business visitors attended the event yesterday, with a larger number expected today for the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce 116th Annual Meeting this morning, and the Grand Finale and prize giveaway this evening. The popular Sample the South Sound complimentary gourmet grazing lunch was the highlight of the day for many EXPO-goers, with the aroma of barbecue ribs drawing lines at JTs Original Louisiana Bar-B-Que booth in one corner of the Exhibition Hall where spicy chicken and ribs were served up by the Turner family. The Turners own and operate the Gig Harbor barbecue restaurant and catering service. At the other end of the hall, Performance Golf Center had a booth to practice your swing and get coaching tips from professionals. The event continues today from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.About 130 exhibitors as well as a free business seminar, prize drawings, and the Grand Finale, along with a repeat of Sample the South Sound, will be featured today.Admission is free to the event at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.”
