The City of Tacoma invites visual artists from Pierce, King, Kitsap, and Thurston Counties to apply to have existing artwork considered for a portable works purchase. Portable works can include 2-dimensional pieces and small-scale 3-dimensional pieces that fall within certain artwork eligibility guidelines. The application deadline is May 14, 2012.

Funding for this portable works purchase comes from one percent for art funds associated with renovations to the Tacoma Municipal Building. The City of Tacoma maintains over 200 diverse pieces of public art, which can be found in virtually every neighborhood in Tacoma.

Portable artworks in the Municipal Art Collection are installed in public spaces throughout City of Tacoma buildings with the goal of improving the quality of the work environment, creating community dialogue, and supporting local artists.
