Pierce County Executive John W. Ladenburg will mark the opening of Chambers Bay golf course by hitting the first tee shot during a ceremony Sat., June 23. The first shot will be taken at 6:50 am, and will be followed by the first public group at 7:10 am, which gained the spot through a donation to Multicare Heatlh System.
The opening marks the end of a three-year process to design and build a world-class, destination Scottish links style golf course to complement economic development and tourism. The course, designed by Robert Trent Jones II, LLC, and operated by Kemper Sports Management is expected to draw traveling golfers from throughout the U.S. and beyond. The county and its team envision holding top professional and amateur tournaments at Chambers Bay.
