Spring is a season of renewal, and that certainly seems to apply to Tacoma Mall, as new stores and other changes continue as owner and manager Simon Property Group works to improve the merchant mix at the shopping center.
Shoppers will see new stores opening, and several current stores moving to new locations during this year.
Build-A-Bear, Beauty Works, Proctor Sports Cards, Nail-N Spa and Phillys Sandwiches & More have all signed leases at Tacoma Mall, with opening dates scheduled for this summer.
Additionally, Gordons Jewelers will be moving next to Starbucks to take advantage of a more central mall location.
Build-A-Bear is a store where customers can create their very own furry friend. The complete bear-making process includes stuffing, making a wish and adding a heart, fluffing, naming and making a personalized birth certificate or storybook. The Build-A-Bear store is scheduled to open in September, in the former B. Dalton Books location near JC Penney.
Anticipated to open around the beginning of July, Beauty Works will feature beauty supplies and will have a select number of stylists. The store will be located in the former Okanogan Farms at the malls northeast entrance near The Bon Marche.
Nail-N Spa anticipates opening in July, and will offer services for nail care. It will be located at the main south entrance next to the Tacoma Police Department.
Phillys Sandwiches & More will be returning to the mall after a one-year absence. It will be located across from the malls food court.
Gordons Jewelers, currently located at the malls northwest entrance, will be moving next to Starbucks. Construction of the new store is currently under way, with a June opening date targeted. Gordons, established in 1905, will remain open in their current location during the construction of the new store.
Announced earlier in the year and planning to open new stores in the coming months are abercrombie and Helzberg Diamonds.
A store catering to kids age 7 to 14, abercrombie will be opening on May 25. Hazelberg Diamonds, a recognized name in the fine jewelry business for over 80 years, is planning an early September opening.
With over 140 in-line merchants, Tacoma Mall is anchored by The Bon Marche, JC Penney, Mervyns, Nordstrom and Sears.
