Cheney Stadium has earned kudos from the animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for offering fans vegan- and vegetarian-friendly fare during Tacoma Rainiers baseball games.

After missing the cut for the past two years, Cheney Stadium ranked No. 4 among Triple-A baseball stadiums for including Field Roast veggie dogs, vegetarian tacos, and veggie burgers on its menu. Among major league baseball stadiums, Seattle Mariners’ Safeco Field ranked No. 7.

“Every year, we see more and more vegan options offered at stadiums across the country, which proves that baseball fans are, indeed, on the ball,” said PETA Associate Director Ryan Huling.

PETA plans to present a framed certificate to the Tacoma Rainiers organization in recognition of the ranking. Complete rankings of minor-league and major-league baseball stadiums are available online here and here, respectively.
