Citizens with the skills and passion to provide leadership in supporting and enhancing the arts in Tacoma can apply for open positions on the Tacoma Arts Commission.
If you are knowledgeable and passionate about the arts (literary, visual and performing) and desire to positively impact the arts in our community, we invite you to apply. The Tacoma Arts Commission is especially interested in applicants who live in underrepresented parts of the city and who bring diversity to the 15-member group.
On behalf of Tacoma City Council, Arts Commissioners help make a wide range of worthwhile cultural projects happen, from grassroots festivals to our larger institutions. They also play a vital role in reviewing public art, and assist staff in promoting our local artists and organizations throughout the country. Commissioners are asked to commit to attend the business meeting on the second Monday of each month at 5 p.m. in Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., Room 16, and be available for committee work.
Applications can be acquired by going to http://www.cityoftacoma.org and clicking on City Hall then Committees, Boards, and Commissions.
Applications should be submitted to the Mayors Office. To apply, call Dio Neris, (253) 591-5100, Mayors Office, Room 1200, Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St., Tacoma, WA 98402. Appointments are made by the Appointments Committee of the City Council.
