The City Council is accepting applications from February 15 – 22 for the position of interim District 2 City Council Member. Council Member Robert Thoms, a veteran of the Persian Gulf War who currently serves as a commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves, has been involuntary recalled to active duty for a six-month tour of duty in Kabul, Afghanistan starting in March 2018 in support of Operation Resolute Support.

On February 23, the City Council is projected to receive a list of candidates interested in the District 2 Council Member position, and all applications will also be posted on the City’s website. A community forum is projected to take place between February 27 and March 5, with event specifics still to be determined.

Finalists will be expected to address the City Council during Study Session on March 6, and the City Council may consider motions to appoint an interim District 2 Council Member during the City Council meeting that evening.

An interim District 2 Council Member may be sworn in by March 7.
