2005-2006 biennial budget discussion
The City Council is scheduled to discuss the 2005-2006 biennial budget. The study session agenda also includes an executive session. The public may attend, but the council will not take public comment. CityPost (Channel 85 on Click!, Channel 77 on Comcast) will air the audio portion of the study session live.

Alexander Ave. interlocal agreements
The City Council will hear four resolutions during related to the Port of Tacomas proposal to vacate Alexander Avenue. The resolutions include:
– An agreement between the Port of Tacoma and the City of Tacoma regarding the terms, conditions and responsibilities of maintaining emergency and evacuation access through the Pierce County Terminal following the proposed closure of Alexander Avenue.
– An agreement between the Port of Tacoma and Tacoma Public Utilities regarding the maintenance or relocation of existing utility facilities related to the proposed Alexander Avenue street vacation.
– An agreement between the Port of Tacoma and the City of Tacoma regarding the terms, conditions and responsibilities for the rehabilitation of the Hylebos Bridge, which will be repaired and reopened no later than Jan. 1, 2007.
– An agreement between the Port of Tacoma and the Public Works Department regarding the terms, conditions and responsibilities of traffic improvements and storm and sanitary sewer issues relating to the proposed Alexander Avenue vacation.
In a related matter, the council will also hear a resolution to amend the rules and procedures of the Tacoma City Council. The resolution would change the order of business by moving consideration of interlocal agreements into the consent agenda.
City Charter Amendment statements
The City Clerks office is seeking volunteers to serve on committees that will prepare the For and Against statements for each of the proposed amendments to the Tacoma City Charter. The statements will appear in the voters pamphlet for the general election Nov. 2, 2004. Please submit a letter of interest indicating which amendment(s) you are advocating for or against. Letters must be received by 5 p.m., Aug. 2, 2004, in the City Clerks office, 747 Market St., Room 220, Tacoma, WA 98402, or e-mailed to charterreview@cityoftacoma.org.
