The City of Tacoma has selected the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA) to manage its City-owned performing arts facilities the Pantages Theater, the Rialto Theater, Theatre on the Square and the Jones Building. The BCPA was one of three organizations, including the Tacoma School of the Arts Partners and the Village Theatre from Issaquah, which submitted proposals for managing the facilities.
The proposal review committee emphasized the importance of selecting a local organization with a strong commitment to our community, said Mike Combs, Director of the Citys Public Assembly Facilities Department. Committee members also praised the proposals from the Village Theatre and the Tacoma School of the Arts Partners for their unique initiatives.
The City is now in the process of clarifying and modifying the BCPA proposal to integrate additional elements into the proposal. The City will then enter into negotiations with the BCPA to create a final contract.
The BCPA will continue to operate under its current contract with the City through June 2006.
The City started a Request for Qualifications and Proposals (RFQ/P) process to find a suitable vendor to manage the Citys performing arts facilities on Oct. 11, 2005.
