The City of Tacoma will present its draft stormwater management program during a public forum from 6 to 8 p.m. Tues., Feb. 12, at the Nature Center at Snake Lake, 1919 Tyler St.
The City of Tacoma has a newly issued National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Municipal Stormwater permit, which regulates the discharge of stormwater from the City’s system to local waterways. In accordance with the permit, the City has developed a draft stormwater management program that will guide the operation of this program for the next five years.
This forum is an opportunity for members of the public to review the draft stormwater management program, talk to City staff about it and provide feedback. The City will present an introduction to the new NPDES Municipal Stormwater permit, an overview of the existing stormwater program, the results of four public workshops, and how that input has been compiled into the draft stormwater management program. During and after the presentation, City staff will be available to answer any questions. The program will be finalized and submitted to the state Department of Ecology in March 2008.
If you would like to review the draft stormwater management program prior to the public forum, a copy of the draft program will be available online at http://www.cityoftacoma.org/surfacewater by Fri., Feb. 8.
