Members of the City Council will hold a public hearing Oct. 18 at approximately 5:30 p.m. for a 180-day extension of the Citys current moratorium on the development of group homes, group residential facilities, lodging houses and emergency and transitional housing. The current six-month moratorium, which went into effect on May 17, is scheduled to expire Nov. 15. The City established the moratorium to prevent the continued concentration of certain kinds of special needs housing within the City of Tacoma and to allow time to review existing policies and regulations of these facilities.
