The Pierce County Council will go on the road to DuPont for its Tuesday, May 30 meeting. It will be held at 5 p.m. in Chloe Clark Elementary School, 1700 Palisade Blvd.
The meeting is being held in Council District 6 and will be chaired by Councilmember Dick Muri, who represents the district. Council rules call for at least one council meeting be held in each of the seven council districts each year, so that citizens can more easily attend. The council’s meetings usually are held at 3 p.m. in the County-City Building, Tacoma. “I encourage residents of District 6 to take this opportunity to attend a council meeting closer to their homes,” he said.
The agenda includes DuPont Mayor Steve Young speaking to the council about economic development and growth in his city and Mike Erkkinen from county Planning and Land Services reporting on the 10-year update of the Anderson/Ketron Islands Community Plan.
Muri sets aside the time from 9 to 11 a.m. each Thursday to meet with citizens in Lakewood City Hall. A retired Air Force officer who resides in Steilacoom, he also represents Fort Lewis, Lakewood, McChord AFB, Roy and the island communities of Anderson, McNeil, and Ketron.
