District Court Judge Jack Nevin has been selected as Judge of the Year by the state Misdemeanant Corrections Association. The award will be presented at the 2006 MCA Awards Luncheon May 9 in Spokane.
Nevin was nominated by Pierce County District Court Probation in part for his work in domestic violence court. He has developed a reputation for holding domestic violence perpetrators accountable and is highly respected in Pierce County among regular Commission against Domestic Violence attendees, said the nomination letter signed by Probation staff members Greg Crawford and Patti Roadhouse.
He encourages Pierce County District Court Probation to think outside the box and come up with realistic approaches to solving problems and handling violations. He is concerned about victim and community safety, the letter said.
Judge Nevin is extremely thorough and cares about each case, each victim and the ramifications of his decisions, the nominators wrote.
