Pierce County’s Information Technology Department and IT Director Terry Hale have been honored as recipients of the 19th annual CIO 100 award for innovative use of information technology. The announcement was made by CIO Magazine, a national resource for chief information officers, in its June 15 issue.
The process for choosing the CIO 100 honorees is systematic and very competitive. “This year’s honorees demonstrate excellence in using IT to foster business growth with new services, heighten customer satisfaction, and continuously adapt processes to enable innovation throughout the business,” said Abbie Lundberg, the magazine’s editor in chief. “Representing a wide range of industries, the honorees also illustrate how IT plays a critical role in the success of all organizations, large and small.”
Teams of CIO editors and writers reviewed applications and scored them against four criteria: innovation, value, leadership and collaboration, with the greatest emphasis on innovation and value. The editors debated how each entity stacked up against the others in terms of the depth and breadth of their practices, their creativity and the specific measurable results of their achievements.
Director Terry Hale said, “I am extremely honored to receive this award for our Department. I accept it with pride and satisfaction on behalf of our exceptional and innovative IT staff, our collaborative partnering relationship with County-wide customers and the overall support we receive from our Executive and County Council. That’s the winning combination it takes to get such an award.”
