County seeks advisory board member

The Pierce County Mental Health Advisory Board is seeking new members for its fifteen-member citizen board until Jan. 17. The Board provides community input for directions of the mental health services in Pierce County, advocates for service needs of consumers, evaluates services, and provides public information on county-funded services to seriously mentally disturbed children and chronically mentally ill adults.

Prospective board members should have a strong interest in improving the lives of persons with mental illness. The county seeks diverse ethnic and geographic representation and minority representatives are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates should be able to devote a minimum of three hours per month to board activities. Appointments are made for three-year terms.

Anyone interested in serving on the Mental Health Advisory Board should call (253) 798-7202 or 1-800-531-0508, or e-mail pchumsvcs@co.pierce.wa.us.
