“David Allen, executive director of the Executive Council for a Greater Tacoma, announced that he is leaving his position Feb. 2, 2001.Allen has been the council’s executive director since its inception 13 years ago.Allen and the business and public leaders represented on the council have promoted and supported many of the projects that have transformed downtown Tacoma.The Broadway Theatre District, University of Washington Tacoma, Museum of Glass, Washington State History Museum and Thea Foss Waterway redevelopment efforts are some of the most visible council-supported developments.Ray Tennison, Executive Council chairman and Simpson Investment Company president said, The Council is committed to the leadership and support of projects and initiatives that benefit the community and contribute to urban revitalization. We appreciate Dave’s contributions to so many of Tacoma’s recent successes.Allen has not announced any immediate plans, but says he wants to focus on Tacoma development projects that the Executive Council chooses to support.Donna Goyak, director of special projects for the Council, will serve as interim director. She served as director of operations for the Museum of Glass while it was an Executive Council project, and directed First Night Activities. “
