Law enforcement officers will be seeking out drunk drivers and other traffic safety offenders in Tacoma this Friday night. Police agencies from throughout Pierce County will be sending one or more officers to the targeted area.
The DUI/traffic safety emphasis patrol is to be dedicated to Rosemary Berry, who was killed last October on SR 507 near Roy. Her car was struck from behind by a drunk driver.
Officers from Bonney Lake, Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Milton, Puyallup, Roy, Ruston, Steilacoom, Sumner, Tacoma and University Place police departments will participate, among others.
The monthly patrols are coordinated by the Tacoma/Pierce County DUI Task Force and supported by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.
