Tacoma firefighters responded Monday at 12:14 p.m. to a house fire in the 4000 block of 52nd Street NE. According to Tacoma Fire Department spokesperson Joe Meinecke, the first arriving engine company found heavy flames and smoke showing from the attached garage area of the over 3,000 square foot residence. Crews attacked the fire with hand lines, conducted primary search and rescue, and paramedics transported one occupant to an area hospital as a result of their injuries. Firefighters were also able to locate and rescue the family dog trapped in the house. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
