Using a gas lawn mower for one hour creates as much pollution as driving from the Tacoma Dome to Safeco Field and back. Help the environment by recycling your gas mower for free from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 29-30 at the City of Tacoma Recycling Center (Tacoma Landfill, 3510 S. Mullen St.). All the collected gas mowers will be donated to a Bates Technical College small engine repair class. After students learn about the engines, the metal from the mowers will be recycled.
