Group protests Walmart in Tacoma

A group gathered on the sidewalk outside the Tacoma Elks headquarters, located near South 23rd Street and Union Avenue, on Sunday morning during the Elks’ weekly burnch to protest a plan to build a Walmart store on the site. “We want to let the Elks know they shouldn’t be selling their property to Walmart and need to consider the community they live in,” wrote ‘Tacoma United Against Walmart’ organizers on their Facebook page. The next protest is planned for Weds., Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m. during the Tacoma Elks weekly meeting.
