Community Health Care, a private, non-profit organization that provides access to quality health care for the county’s low-income and uninsured residents, has announced it will hold a ground-breaking ceremony for its new Hilltop Regional Health Center on Tues., Aug. 9, at 1202 Martin Luther King Jr. Way at 10 a.m.
With initial federal funding of $12 million from the Affordable Health Care Act, Community Health Care is launching a campaign to raise another $11 million for the three-story, 58,000-square-foot building designed by Johnson Architectural and Planning.
When completed next year, the new facility will offer an urgent care services clinic to serve 3,000 people annually at a fifth of the cost of local hospital emergency departments; ongoing preventative medical care for low-income residents serving 17,000 medical patients annually; a family practice residency program in partnership with St. Joseph Hospital; a dental clinic that provides provide emergency, preventive and restorative services for all ages, focusing on early screening for all children and sealants for school-age children; and an on-site pharmacy that will provide high-quality and low-cost medications and serve as the center for programs to monitor and manage diabetic patients and for smoking cessation plans.
