Historic Tacoma announced it will host a lecture and discussion entitled “Tacoma’s Historic Sacred Places: Past, Present and Future” on Thurs., May 28, at 7 p.m. It is tentatively planned to be held at Urban Grace Church, 902 Market St., Tacoma.
The lecture and discussion will study the architecture and history of Tacoma’s sacred places, their contributions to the development of Tacoma and its neighborhoods, and consider the future of Tacoma’s historic religious facilities.
Speakers include Dr. Caroline Swope, architectural historian; Gerry Eysaman, architect; and Rev. Dennis Anderson, Board member, Partners for Sacred Places.
The evening will include a panel discussion and community involvement in exploring the challenges and opportunities of preserving Tacoma’s historic sacred places.
This event is sponsored by Historic Tacoma in celebration of National Preservation Month in May. The event is free and part of Historic Tacoma’s Preserving Tacoma’s Sacred Places project funded in part by a grant from the National Society of the Colonial Dames in the State of Washington.
