Lakewood City Hall to host Pierce County Council meeting

In an effort to involve more citizens in government, Pierce County Council will relocate its regular Tuesday meeting to Lakewood on Tues., Oct. 7. The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. in Lakewood City Hall, located at 6000 Main Street SW, in Lakewood.

“The Pierce County Charter requires us to conduct at least one evening council meeting every year in each of the districts. Bringing the council out into the community gives our friends and neighbors better access to us and to county government,” said Pierce County Councilmember Doug Richardson, who represents the 6th Council District. “These in-district meetings are always a great opportunity to hear from local governments and community groups and I’m looking forward to meeting with folks tomorrow evening in Lakewood.”

In addition to regularly-scheduled agenda items, Pierce County Council will hear updates from Lakewood Mayor Don Anderson, DuPont Mayor Michael Grayum, Steilacoom Town Administrator Paul Loveless, and Anderson Island Citizens Advisory Board representative Carol Paschal. Pierce County Council will also hear from Pierce County Performance Audit Analyst Bill Vetter regarding the evaluations of the Pierce County Corrections Bureau’s jail operations.
