The opening of the Lincoln Avenue Bridge in the Tacoma Tideflats will be delayed until Dec. 30. The opening is delayed two weeks to complete the bridge painting and clean up, to remove the containment structure around the construction project and to install the expansion joints and pavement markings on the bridge deck. The Lincoln Avenue Bridge project replaces deck spans 2 and 3 and overlays the remaining two deck sections. The project includes bearing, sidewalk and guardrail repair. The most prominent element of the project calls for completely re-painting the bridge. The project also includes a minor amount of street improvements on Lincoln Avenue from the west end of the bridge to Portland Avenue. The contract for the project was awarded to Quigg Brothers in February. Work began in May.
