Pierce County’s third Livable Communities Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 8 at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center (Fairgrounds). Admission is free. Entrance is through the Gold Gate, at 9th Avenue S.W. and Meridian.
The fair is held every two years to bring together important information and services for the citizens of Pierce County. It is aimed at children, youth, adults and seniors. The Livable Communities Fair is fun and informative, but it is more than entertainment. It is a great opportunity for citizens to learn how to make their communities better places to live, said Diane Braaten of the Pierce County Executives Office.
More than 200 exhibits and interactive displays will be featured. Lots of give-aways will be offered for young and old. Garden expert Ciscoe Morris will broadcast live from the fair on KIRO 710.
Similar to a garden or home show, visitors will find interactive booths, displays and workshops. In every sense, it is an excellent opportunity for citizens to find out how they can make their homes, neighborhoods and communities more livable, said County Executive John W. Ladenburg.
Some of the featured topics include: Art awareness and cultural diversity; citizenship and public service; economic development and employment; education and outreach; environment, habitat protection, land use and development, and sustainable design-home and garden; parks, recreation and conservation; public safety and health; social and civic services; transportation and infrastructure; and volunteer opportunities.
