Friends and family of the late Gayl Bertagni have planned a memorial May 30 at The Swiss Pub in downtown Tacoma.
Bertagni was killed May 22 on a rural road near Randle when she was accidentally pinned beneath her vehicle. According to news reports, Bertagni, 53, and her daughter, Bianca Sanders, had climbed out of the vehicle when it began to roll. Both ran after the pick-up turck when it rolled over, pinning Bertagni. She died at the scene.
A memorial funeral mass was held today at St. Stephen the Martyr in Renton.
Bertagni co-owned The Swiss Pub with Bob Hill and Jack McQuade. The Swiss, located at 1904 South Jefferson, will be closed this week. However, on Saturday beginning at 3:00 pm, friends and family are invited to the pub to celebrate Bertagni’s life.
In lieu of flowers, Bertagni’s family has called for donations to the Emergency Food Network and support of local farmers.
