Where can you play on a boulder, spin yourself silly, swing on a log, whisper to a friend through a listening trunk and play in a treehouse? Beginning Oct. 29, all of these cool things and more will be found at the Meridian Habitat Park nature playground on the corner of 144th St. East and Meridian Ave. in Puyallup.
Pierce County Parks and Recreation will celebrate the grand opening of the Meridian Habitat Park nature playground on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. with special speakers, a ribbon cutting and refreshments.
This first phase of the new playground offers equipment that is accessible for children of all abilities. For example, climbing, swinging and spinning equipment is designed for lower-level entry points to facilitate transferring a child from a mobility device to a fun-filled play piece. Access to natural materials such as logs, plants, and boulders add to the nature playground experience.
