The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc. has named Gary Milgard, chairman and CEO of Milgard Manufacturing, a lifetime member. Milgard, along with nine other winners for 2004, was selected from among hundreds of nominees who have overcome humble beginnings and adversity to achieve success. A formal ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C. later this month to honor the inductees.
Milgard Manufacturing is a classic American business success story. In 1958, Gary Milgard and his father, Maurice Milgard, Jr., started a small glass shop in Tacoma with three employees.
