WHAT: In less than the three months, the long-anticipated Museum of Glass: International Center for Contemporary Art will open to the public.
The Museum of Glass will be an international center devoted to the exhibition and interpretation of contemporary art, with a sustained focus on glass.
Facilities will include galleries, outdoor exhibition areas, an Education Studio, a grand hall, a store and cafe, as well as a hot shop amphitheater where visitors can watch artists work.
WHEN: Opening weekend is July 6-7. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday; noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday; closed on Monday.
WHERE: 1801 East Dock Street in Tacoma
DIRECTIONS: From I-5 (north or south); take the I-705 North Exit, City Center; take the Schuster Parkway exit; turn right (east) at the first light on to Dock Street; park at the Museum of Glass on your left.
ADMISSION: $8 for adults; $6 for seniors, military personnel and students; $3 for children age 6-12; free every third Thursday of the month from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
