Pack your snacks, blankets and lawn chairs and head to Wright Park for a free outdoor production of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” Friday, August 9.

The show starts at 7 p.m. and arrives in Tacoma courtesy of Seattle Shakespeare Co.’s Wooden O productions, a traveling troupe that specializes in open-air shows.

If you would like to get close to the action, bring a blanket to sit on the ground. Alternatively, low-rise, collapsible beach chairs work well. If you’d prefer a higher seat, the company recommends sitting in the back of the crowd.

Love Lost and Love Found. After a shipwreck separates Viola from her twin brother, so begins a whirlwind of mistaken identities and unrequited love on the coast of Illyria. Ever resourceful, Viola disguises herself, sets out to conquer this strange land, and starts serving as a go-between for two lovesick households. When she falls in love with her employer, Viola gets caught up in a romantic knot that she must untangle. Just when things stretch to the brink of bedlam, her twin appears and the puzzle pieces come together.

Enjoy live acoustic music among lush tropical floral displays on the second Sunday of every month. The performers reflect a wide spectrum of musical tastes and the music is intended to appeal to audiences of all ages and sensibilities.

Most of the year, the music is played inside the Conservatory and the music can be heard while visitors view the various gorgeous botanical exhibits. Once in awhile, during the summer, the greenhouse gets warm enough that the musicians set up outside, under one of the park’s magnificent old trees.
