A new market opens on the north side of Tacoma on Sunday Aug. 14. The North Pearl Farmers Market runs seven Sundays until Sept. 25 at 5033 North Pearl St. in the Ruston neighborhood from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Currently there are more than 20 vendors ready to exhibit their wares, with an equal mix farmers, processed foods, and artisans.
With local farms including Artondale Farm in Gig Harbor, Cora Coffee from Tacoma, fresh pasta from Basilico Ristorante in Olympia, and handmade chocolates from The Mighty Truffle on Vashon Island, this market is a community project long in the making.
This market is anticipated to draw a high number of visitors thanks to its location. Kitty-corner to the popular and long-standing Antique Sandwich Company and just south of the entry to the Pt. Defiance Zoo and the Vashon Island ferry, and as well as on a main artery to the popular new Pt. Ruston waterfront, this market is a community partnership co-sponsored by the City of Ruston, City of Tacoma, LILT Design, the Pt. Defiance Chevron, and Ruston’s latest addition, new restaurant Mitchell’s Always Cook-N, which opens in August as well.
