November is Tacoma's Artists Month

Each November in Tacoma is proclaimed Artists Month – featuring a host of more creative delights than you can shake a paintbrush at.

Detailed information about each of the following events and opportunities is available at http://www.tacomaculture.org/arts/activities.asp.

Tacoma will erupt with art, and you’ll never lack for something to do, with a calendar line up of literary, theater, music, film, dance, lecture and visual art events each day of the month at various locations throughout the city.

Artists themselves will host 17 different studio tours from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 20 to allow visitors to catch a glimpse of the artists’ work space, methods and creative processes.

Galleries and local and national businesses will add color to November with vibrant exhibits at more than 40 locations in Tacoma, from the Freighthouse Art Gallery to Border’s Books.

Aspiring artists can sign up for dance, visual arts and film workshops and classes.

Two artisan markets will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 4 and 5 at the Rhodes Center, 950 Broadway, and at Ruby Collection in Opera Ally. The markets will feature the original work of talented local artists including pottery, jewelry, handmade cards, glass, textiles, prints, beads and watercolors.

Printed copies of the Artists Month Program are available around town at participating venues including museums and galleries. Copies are also available by calling (253) 591-5191 or stopping by the Economic Development Department office on the 9th floor of 747 Market Street.
