Occupy Tacoma rally moves through downtown

A large group of people marched through downtown Tacoma this afternoon to show their support for the national “Occupy Wall Street” movement. Billing themselves as “Occupy Tacoma,” the crowd gathered in Fireman’s Park at 3 p.m. to make signs before marching through Frost Park, down Pacific Avenue, and toward Tollefson Plaza while chanting “Banks got bailed out! We got sold out!” In a Facebook message posted earlier this week, organizers said Occupy Tacoma “is not about protesting Tacoma. We live and work in this community and love it very much. We are expressing solidarity with the national movement and opposing the corporate takeover of American democracy.” For more information, visit http://occupytacoma.org/ and http://www.facebook.com/OccupyTacoma .
