Winter storms have left much debris on trails and caused some slides on roadways of the Forest. Following cleanup of a slide leading to the Mt. Walker overlook, the gate leading to the overlook is expected to be opened by April 20. Due to storm damage, the Bear Gulch Picnic Area will offer limited amenities this year. The road to Staircase is expected to be open by Memorial Day.
The Pacific Ranger District announced the following campground openings in the Quinault area:
* Willaby – April 15
* Falls Creek – May 1, weather permitting
* Gatton Creek – May 1, weather permitting
Campgrounds in the Forks area still have storm repair construction going on and opening dates for those campgrounds will be announced at a later time.
