Olympic Moving and Storage announced Thursday it has opened a new 45,000-square-foot warehouse facility in the Woodbrook Business and Industrial Park near Joint Base Lewis-McChord and Interstate 5 in Lakewood.
“Our new location allows us to be nearer to the military community,” said Olympic Moving and Storage vice president Jill Ihly. “We are proud to serve military members by helping to facilitate their moving and storage needs and coordinating on their behalf if deployed.”
Ihly is the third generation in her family to work in the moving industry, following her grandparents and parents into the family business. The business opened in 1994 out of the family’s Olympia home, and Olympic Moving and Storage has since grown to four locations in Olympia, Federal Way, Bremerton, and Lakewood, with additional plans for expansion.
“It is exciting that Olympic Moving and Storage is the first business to open in the Woodbrook Business and Industrial Park,” said City of Lakewood economic development manager Ellie Chambers-Grady. “Over 150 acres of land are zoned as Industrial Business Park and the parcels are ready for redevelopment. Olympic is pioneering the way for expected growth in the area.”
