ESAR’s highly trained and certified members assist local law enforcement in emergency search and rescue operations, provide community service during disasters and support community events such as parades, special events and celebrations. Leaders say ESAR develops self-confidence and maturity in youth in a safe and secure environment.
The training covers wilderness survival and leadership skills, search and rescue techniques, communications, team building and program and resource management. When certified, high school students can receive community support credit and are authorized five days excused absents from school by law.
The next training cycle begins in November. To get started, attend an orientation or visit http://www.pcesar.org or call (253) 752-ESAR.
