First time home buyers may qualify to purchase a home with no down payment through a local program.

The Pierce County Neighborhood Stabilization Program provides eligible buyers with below market rate mortgages for purchase of vacant, bank-owned foreclosed properties in Pierce County. Homes must be outside Tacoma and Lakewood.

Initial pre-screening questionnaires for the program will be accepted from Feb. 16 through March 12. Information on how to apply, the pre-screening questionnaire, and the qualifying process are available online at http://www.piercecountywa.gov/PC/abtus/ourorg/comsvcs/housing/html/cs_home5.htm .
