Action on Ordinances
Proposal No. 2004-16, amending the Pierce County county-wide planning policies to update the center’s designations of the Urban Growth Area section; creating a new Chapter 19D.240 of the Pierce County Code, which incorporates by reference the Pierce County county-wide planning policies; and adopting findings of fact.

Proposal No. 2004-17, amending Section 2.45.110 of the Pierce County Code, functions and purposes, for Land Use Advisory Commissions.

Action on Resolutions
Proposal No. R2004-18, calling for an election on __________ for the purposes of submitting to the affected voters the question of whether to form a metropolitan park district whose boundaries are coterminous with the boundaries of the Peninsula Park and Recreation District in unincorporated Pierce County, and on the election of the five initial Metropolitan Park commissioners; and requesting that the Prosecuting Attorney write an appropriate ballot title.

Proposal No. R2004-30 , requesting that proposed Ordinance No. 2003-66, the regulatory package titled “Directions For Habitat Protection and Restoration,” be divided into multiple ordinances to aid in public review and legislative processing; sending the package back to the executive office for distribution to the appropriate executive departments in preparation for hearings before the Pierce County Planning Commission; referring the package back to the Planning Commission for additional review and consideration of the draft and final Environmental Impact Statements; and requesting the Planning Commission to make a final recommendation with findings of fact back to the council on each ordinance by June 15, 2004.

Proclamations/Appointments
Proposal No. R2004-47, proclaiming May 15 and 16, 2004, as “Pierce County Relay For Life Weekend” in Pierce County, Washington.
Proposal No. R2004-48, honoring the career of Frosty Westering; commending and thanking him for his years of dedicated service to Pacific Lutheran University and Pierce County; and proclaiming March 16, 2004, as “Frosty Westering Day in Pierce County.”

Proposal No. R2004-45, confirming the appointment of four new members to the Mental Health Advisory Board. (Pamela Cole, Michelle Egelhoff, Linda Johnston and Andre Rossi)

Proposal No. R2004-50, confirming the appointment of three new members to the Parkland-Spanaway-Midland Land Use Advisory Commission. (Cindy J. Beckett, Hermine Soler and David E. Artis)

Other Business
Pacific Avenue Transportation Project Presentation – by the Pacific Avenue Redevelopment Task Force and the Washington Department of Transportation.

The March 23, 2004, Pierce County Council meeting will be held in Council District No. 7, at 6 p.m., in the Gig Harbor Civic Center Council Chambers, 3510 Grandview St., Gig Harbor. This meeting will be in lieu of the regular 3 p.m. meeting.
