Pierce County Council will recognize outgoing Councilmember Stan Flemming for his years of public service during the final 2014 meeting of Pierce County Council.
Councilmember Flemming was elected to Pierce County Council in 2010, ran for re-election this year, but lost to former Gig Harbor City Councilmember Derek M. Young.
Councilmember Flemming, a medical doctor and retired U.S. Army brigadier general, serves as Pierce County Council’s vice chair. He previously served the community as a member of the Washington House of Representatives and a founding councilmember and mayor of the City of University Place.
This week, councilmembers will present Councilmember Flemming with a plaque honoring his public service. Pierce County employees and members of the public are invited to attend the event, which will be held on Tues., Dec. 16, at 3 p.m., in Pierce County Council Chambers, at the County-City Building, located at 930 Tacoma Ave. S., 10th Floor, in Tacoma.
