The developer of Point Ruston announced yesterday it has hired downtown Tacoma communications firm JayRay to plan and manage communications for its waterfront project.
Point Ruston LLC plans to transform a former industrial site into a vibrant urban village. Upon completion, the project will combine urban living, shopping, dining, entertainment and recreation along nearly a mile of Commencement Bay shoreline with mountain and water views. Plans call for nearly 1,000 condominiums, town homes and apartments, approximately 120,000 square feet of retail space and approximately 100,000 to 125,000 square feet of Class A office space. A pedestrian-friendly “Waterwalk,” linked to Ruston Way’s popular waterfront path, will wind its way around the neighborhood. Last November, the developer announced Silver Cloud Inns and Hotels will provide hotel accommodations to the neighborhood.
JayRay has been involved in the project for some time. Earlier this year, the firm established a dedicated microsite for online hosting of Point Ruston’s Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for the City of Tacoma. The site included introductory materials, summaries and official comment instructions, making it easy for the public to review and respond during a 30-day comment period.
Point Ruston LLC, a real estate partnership based in Ruston, Wash., is led by managing partner Mike Cohen. Cohen is president of MC Construction, the company providing planning, management and construction expertise to the development.
