Steve DeRose recently joined the Port of Tacoma as Purchasing Manager. In this position, his key responsibilities include implementing sound purchasing procedures, developing and maintaining strong vendor relationships, approval and issuance of purchase orders, disposal of surplus materials and developing specifications for bids and requests for proposals.

Before joining the Port, DeRose was Purchasing Manager of Government Contracts for Todd Pacific Shipyards, where he was responsible for purchasing activities on naval aircraft carriers at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Previously, he was Contracts Administrator for the Department of Defense’s Umatilla Chemical Demilitarization Facility.

DeRose holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University.
